Fonts and Contrast for Healing Reels: Make Morning Text Easy to Read
A gentle morning message should not require perfect eyesight or a large screen. Font choice, contrast, and line length decide whether a text-only Reel feels inviting or frustrating. Decorative lettering can look attractive while making the actual message harder to understand.
Start with this sample hook
The good morning you deserved but never got - Morning #14
Make the idea useful
Use a plain, readable typeface for the main sentence and reserve an accent style for a short label. A dark background with light text or the reverse is a practical starting point. Do not rely only on colour to distinguish the opening from the ending; spacing and labels can communicate the structure too.
Your practical workflow
- Choose one main typeface and a limited set of sizes. Set the sample hook as two or three comfortable lines rather than one tiny paragraph.
- Check the text against every background frame. Put a solid panel behind words if changing footage makes the contrast unreliable.
- Preview at normal phone brightness and size. Keep the core message understandable for someone watching silently or with reduced visual comfort.
A text-only storyboard to try
Use the sample as your opening, splitting it across cards if needed. These supporting cards show one way to develop the idea; adapt the details to your own message.
- Supporting card 1Good morning can be a simple sentence.
- Supporting card 2The next thought needs space, not a smaller font.
- Supporting card 3Keep the gentle ending as readable as the opening.
A caption to try
Soft does not have to mean faint. A morning Reel can be calm and still give every word enough contrast to read.
A mistake to avoid
Avoid flashing text, rapidly alternating bright backgrounds, and colour combinations that blur together. A healing page does not need visually aggressive effects to feel engaging.
Can I use handwritten fonts for the whole Reel?
You can, but test readability carefully. A short handwritten accent may work better than a full paragraph, particularly when viewers are reading on small screens.
Before you publish
Start with a vertical 1080 × 1920 canvas as a practical working format, not a promise of reach. Export a clean video and preview it on your phone. Instagram's published guidance specifies at least 720-pixel resolution and 30 FPS. Keep text away from interface overlays and use your own or properly licensed footage.
Watch the complete Reel on a phone with sound off. Check that the opening gets a clear payoff, every card stays readable, and the caption adds context. Use only media you own or have permission to use. A hook is a starting point; reach and engagement are not guaranteed.
